Why use WickCalc?

Getting the ratios right is the difference between a candle that burns beautifully and one that tunnels, pools, or throws no scent. Every calculator on this site is built specifically for chandlers — from beginners pouring their first soy jar candle to small businesses pricing a batch of 500.

What is a fragrance load?

Fragrance load (or fragrance percentage) is the ratio of fragrance oil to wax by weight. Soy waxes typically accept 6–10 %, while some paraffin waxes can hold up to 12 %. Exceeding the wax's maximum fragrance load causes seeping, poor scent throw, and fire hazards. The Fragrance Load Calculator prevents this automatically.

How much wax do I need to fill a jar?

A common rule of thumb is to fill the jar with water to the fill line, note the fluid ounces, then multiply by 0.86 to get the wax weight in ounces (because wax is less dense than water). The Wax Weight Calculator does this automatically for any jar shape.

Choosing the right wick

Wick sizing is the most trial-and-error part of candle making. The Wick Size Calculator gives you a recommended starting series (CD, ECO, Wooden, etc.) and size based on your container diameter and wax type — saving you several test pours.
